Magical Mermaid at the Embroiderers' Guild Exhibition

Today I finished my second piece for the Embroiderers' Guild Exhibition - phew - just in time!  I must deliver it tomorrow as the Exhibition opens on Friday at 10am at the York Guildhall.  It uses lots of recycled bits and bobs - coffee packaging, bits of thread, sheers and net leftover from other projects, not to mention shells found at the seaside.

A Celebration in Stitch -  the Trienniel Exhibition of the City of York Embroiderer's Guild.  Catch it at the York Guildhall from Friday 22 June to Sunday 24 June, 10am to 4pm.

Made in York - 23 June 2012 - Put it in your diary!

This is to tell you about a great event that's happening in York soon - so get it in your diary and make it a date!  It's Made in York and will be featuring lots of local artists/makers with fab things for sale.

... and there's going to be cakes & stuff.  So you can browse, sample the cakes, have a cup of tea and it'll be a tiptop, lovely afternoon.  I'll be there with my carrot cakes and my chocolate cake and of course my jewellery. Come on down!

Fun & Crafty Stuff in Fife

Jubilee Magic at Pittenweem
Have come to Fife for the Jubilee and some R&R (rest & relaxation) not to mention obligatory kite flying on St Andrews' West Sands - think "Chariots of Fire".

However thought I should share with you some great crafty places to visit in this locality.

How about visiting Di Gilpin's studio in Largoward.  Here are some goodies I came away with..
Yarns & buttons from Di Gilpin

Or there's Twist Fibre Craft Studio in Newburgh which has the most fabulous range of wools, felting fibres, books, dyes etc.  They are fabulously helpful and if you can't get to Newburgh you can buy on-line.  Here's my choice of fabulously blended fleece this visit:

And if you fancy a trip to Dundee take in the DCA (Dundee Contemporary Arts) and Rockhaven (just opposite the DCA).  My selection from Rockhaven:
Yarns & Buttons from Rockhaven

But if you want to buy some art or craft work rather than make some yourself then take yourself off to Pittenweem on the East Neuk and call into Funky Scottish - a great little gallery:

New Button Brooches

Beautiful Buttons
Found these buttons on a recent button buying sortie.  They'll make great brooches.  Watch out for the finished results!

Finished Brooches

Oh look - here they are - all finished!  Still have to find something to do with the lacy one.  Back to the drawing board - or do I mean button tin?

Last one completed!

Finally - here it is!  All done - what's next then....
